Star Travel Protect Eligibility

  • Pre- Acceptance Medical Screening:  All persons above 65 years of age will be required to undergo medical screening.
  • Eligibility: Any individual who is a permanent resident of India- above 6 months of age, travelling abroad for work or leisure can take this overseas travel insurance.

Star Travel Protect Features

When you travel abroad on business or holiday Star Travel Protect insurance policy provides you coverage for the following exigency:
  • Emergency medical expenses
  • Repatriation in case of medical emergency
  • Repatriation of mortal remains
  • Any dental emergency expenses following an accident
  • Compensation following accidental injuries
  • Loss of your checked in baggage(up to the limits)
  • Reasonable expenses incurred for obtaining new passport
  • Flight delay
  • Missed departure/connection
  • Hijack distress
  • Expenses on emergency purchases of consumables due to any delay in handing over your checked in baggage by the carrier for more than 12 hours
  • Pecuniary loss on cancellation of your trip due to any accidental bodily injury/death of a family member
  • Any Legal Liability that maybe fastened upon you, if you cause any bodily injury or property damage to any third party

Star Travel Protect Claim Process

  • The policy buyer needs to inform the claims assistance company in order to register a claim with the company.However, the following documents needs to be submitted while applying for a claim with the company:
    • Health card
    • Duly filled claim form
    • Doctor's consultation papers
    • Investigation reports (e.g. X-ray, scans, blood report, etc.)
    • Pharmacy invoices supported by respective prescriptions
    • In cases of accidents, Medico Legal Certificate (MLC) and / or FIR
    • Discharge summary
    • Other relevant documents
    • Documents other than the Health Card should be submitted in original.
  • In cases of an emergency, the policy buyer is required to intimate Star Health within 24 hours of the accident/ illness/ hospitalization. The required Intimation can be made either by calling at the specified toll free number at 1800 425 2255 or by contacting the nearest branch office of Star Health. The policy buyer has to mention the Star Health ID number or the Policy number for easy reference.

Star Travel Protect Exclusions

  • Any medical treatment, drugs or medicines, prescribed or applied, before the period of Insurance.
  • Any medical expenses incurred when the specific purpose of a journey is to receive medical treatment or advice.
  • Routine physical or other examination where there is no objective indication of impairment of normal health.
  • Medical expenses beyond the expiry of the Policy Period.
  • Experimental, unproven or non-standard treatment.
  • Delay of baggage when the intended destination is in India.
  • Loss/damage to the Insured's passport as a result of the confiscation/detention by customs, police or any other authority.
